Try These Carpal Tunnel Exercises Before Resorting to Surgery

You can just take three minutes out of your day to do carpal exercises and give yourself a lot of relief. That’s not much time, considering you’re probably awake at least 15 hours a day. To get relief from carpal tunnel syndrome, you’re going to do exercises probably 45 minutes a day, but you can do them three minutes at a time. Is that worth getting relief from carpal tunnel syndrome, or even avoiding getting it at all?

The idea here is to be smart about when you do your carpel tunnel exercises. There can’t be an excuse as to you not having time, because we know you do. How many minutes do you spend on your cell phone a day, check emails, or converse with co-workers? The time is there, you just have to find it. We’re about to show you a couple exercises and give you times throughout the day to do them.

Three minutes is all it takes

Do least one exercise every hour. You can do them for up to five minutes, depending on what your occupation is, but you can start off small if you don’t think you have five minutes or if you can’t do the exercise for five minutes straight. For example, let’s say that you’re getting those familiar overuse feelings in your arms because you’ve been typing. So stop, do an exercise for three minutes, and then keep typing. If you’re having no problems, that’s great. Do the carpal total exercises every hour and keep symptoms away altogether.

Doing wrist circles

This excise is really easy, and therefore it’s one you should like. These are among the easiest of the carpal tunnel exercises, and so they’re a good way to start out. Have you ever watched an umpire call a homerun? That’s very similar to what you’re going to do here, except you extend your index and middle fingers and circle clockwise. Do both hands, alternating between them.

If you really want to get a good workout with this, alternate the fingers as well. If you use the index and middle finger for the first set, try using the middle and ring finger for your next one. Keep doing it until you’ve combined each of the fingers, but make sure they are always ones right next to each other. Your wrists will feel relieved when you’re done.

Forgetting to Remember

If you forget to do your carpal tunnel exercises, don’t worry. Starting off with wrist circle exercises is very easy and should get you into the habit without feeling like you’re exercising at all. And, it’s a good way to fight getting carpal tunnel syndrome but still continue to work as efficiently as possible throughout your day as usual.

You should also do a couple of carpal tunnel exercise sets in the morning when you first get up, and then a couple more just before you go to bed. It’s a great way to both begin and end your day, and being smart about your exercises will help the routines come naturally. And of course, the end result is that you won’t have to face carpal tunnel symptoms that are severe. In fact, you may be able to avoid carpal tunnel syndrome altogether.
