When you think about carpal tunnel exercises, you are probably just thinking about stretching your fingers as you sit at your desk! However, check out some exercises that will let you break up the routine a little bit, and help you get to where you want to be when it comes to fitness in your hands and arms. Check out these off the wall routines, and you’ll soon realize that you are much more healthy and loose than you ever have been before.
The Wall Stretch
First, start by finding a sturdy wall segment near to where you work. Just setting aside a few minutes a day to do this stretch can help you feel much better, and it’s lots better than doing nothing at all! Start by standing face towards the wall and reach up as high as you can. Touch your fingertips to the highest point that you can reach; this is a great way to get started.
When you have figured out how high you can get, start sliding your hands down the wall slowly. You will end with your arms at a ninety degree angle from your body, and you will need to move back a little so that you can stretch out. Try doing this a few times to make sure that you are going to be getting your blood flowing; it sure beats sitting in a chair!
Twisting Your Wrist and Forearm
Another great exercise that you can add to your repertoire is going to be the forearm and wrist twist. It is a great exercise when you realize that you can do it while looking like you are not moving at all. Start with your hand open in the high five position and press it flat against the wall in front of you. Right now, there is no strain on your fingers.
When your hand is well placed, turn your head slowly to the left. When you can really feel the tension, push your right shoulder forward a little. This is a good way to get a stretch that goes through your shoulder, wrist, fingers and even a little in the neck area. This is a lovely way to loosen up all the way through your arms.
More Exercises?
There are actually a lot f great carpal tunnel exercises out there that will get you precisely where you need to be. Do them walking between the water fountain and your desk, and you will find that it is going to improve your productivity a great deal!
When you find that you are tense and irritated, give it a break and try those exercises above. Go through one if not both of these exercises and watch all that tension drain away. Having a productive day can take all the stress off of you, and with just a little bit of help from these great exercises can get you where you want to be!
